Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely were lovers and collaborators in both art and life. They often worked together for monumental projects, in which Niki de Saint Phalle's colorful sculptures were mounted on Tinguely's black bases. This would give Saint Phalle's designs kinetic energy, making the sculptures dance and twirl harmoniously.
